Marketing for a new business – checklist from launch to first customers

A practical marketing checklist for new businesses, from brand and website to channels, content and measurement.

A new business does not need to be everywhere. Start with a clear offer, a credible identity, a website built for enquiries and one channel where the audience can be reached.

Build in the right order

Use five layers: offer, brand, digital foundation, traffic and measurement. Define who you help and why, then create a compact visual identity with logo variants, colours, typography and image style.

Website and discoverability

Secure your domain and business email. Build a mobile-first website that clearly explains the offer and provides a direct next step such as call, book or request a quote. Give important services their own pages and answer real buyer questions so search engines and AI systems can understand the business.

Choose one main channel

Choose based on buying behaviour. B2B may favour LinkedIn, email or search; visual local businesses may favour Instagram, TikTok or Meta; high-intent services may prioritise SEO and search advertising.

Create and measure

Publish content around prices, problems, comparisons, process, proof and objections. Before increasing ad spend, test forms, phone links, booking and mobile UX. Measure enquiries, calls, bookings and sales rather than treating traffic as the goal.

30-day plan

  1. Week 1: offer, audience and visual foundation.
  2. Week 2: domain, email and website.
  3. Week 3: search visibility and first content.
  4. Week 4: launch one primary channel and improve from response.
