From 12 October 2026, Google Ads can automatically find coupons and deals on your website and apply them as promotion assets in your campaigns. It is on by default and can be switched off in account-level automated assets settings.
What did Google announce?
According to an email to some advertisers reported by Search Engine Roundtable and PPC Land, Google Ads will ”automatically identify and extract high-quality promotions, such as coupons and deals, from your website and apply them directly to your campaigns”. For now it applies only to Search and Performance Max campaigns with linked location assets and no promotion assets. Regions are not stated, so check your own account.
How do you see and switch it off?
The assets should appear in the Assets section, but assets with zero impressions are not shown. To opt out, go to account-level automated assets settings, find Automated Promotions and select Off. No official Google page was linked in the sources.
What should small businesses do now?
Clean up your website so expired codes and unclear terms are gone, check the Assets section, decide whether you want the feature, and compare results before and after 12 October. A promotion in an ad is a promise to the customer, so make sure it is correct.
